5252.0. "Printing a redirected graphics file." by CARROL::MELLITZ () Fri Dec 06 1991 19:55

    I had a great idea but it didn't work.

    My problem is that I use PPage to write output to the LJ252
    and I want multiple copies without having PPage figure out
    how to render each strip of print out for each copy. It takes
    40 minites to compute the rendering for each page.

    I used

    > CMD "parallel" my_file

    Then I ran PPage and printed to the file.

    I checked that the file was created.

    The I typed

    > Copy my_file to PRT:

    The ASCII sequences spewed out... no pretty graphics.

    The I check to see if <esc>b1m (raster transmission mode) were the
    first characters. It looks like they were.

    I'm not really sure if the escape sequence are really there
    because I use DME as an editor and don't know how to insert
    "noprinting" ascii characters.

    Are there some other codes I need to send to the LJ252 first?
    If so what san easy way to send them to the printer?

    Thanks in advance,

    Rich

5252.1Try PAR or SER (as appropriate)MR4DEC::GAYUnderground living can be Hobbit formingFri Dec 06 1991 23:068
    The first thing to try is copy to SER or PAR instead of PRT.

    The printer driver (PRT) will try to translate the printer codes and
    remove anything unprintable that it doesn't understand.

5252.2Graphics in the stew?SDOGUS::WILLIAMSTOPGUNSat Dec 07 1991 02:176
    Rich,
    I had a friend have this problem and if I remember correctly we had to
    do PAR: not PRT: because the PRT: cooks the output and strips some
    things.  See if that helps.

    That was it. It seems so obvious now.

    Thanks a bunch,
