5246.0. "HELP... GENLOCKS!!!" by SUBURB::HAWKESM () Thu Dec 05 1991 11:04

Hi everyone, could anyone recommend me a decent budget priced Genlock
for my Amiga, as I want to start using my Amiga in conjunction with my
Sony V800 Camcorder for Video titling and various other special
    effects.
I would be most grateful if you could help me as soon as possible. I am
willing to pay anything up to 250 (Or about $400 for our American
    friends).

    Thanks...

For that amount, the PROgen by Progressive would be the best bet.
Their MINIgen is also a good buy at half the price (about $200) but
lacks the RGB passtru, which means you put it on to do your video stuff
or you take it out when not needed.

    I use a Genlock from Hama here in Germany.......costs DM1100, has Y/C
as well as video in/out......it is in UK under another name.......can't
remeber at present, drop me a line if you want to follow it up. The box
needs a 12v power suply (I use a small transformer without any
    problem!)

Just one thing, power up genlock first, boot up the AMIGA 500 second and
then supply the Genlock with video or Y/C signal. Stops you losing the
last part of the screen (NTSC mode!!), a strange bug that!

You can control, contrast, colour, illumination and you also have 2
faders for the computer RGB or the video signals. It is also an RGB
splitter......using the VT240 monitor you have a cheap second TV or
video monitor when feeding the genlock without the AMIGA RGB signal!

Just my DM1100's worth.......the UK price was more as I remember (499
pounds), I am coming over to Uk in March (Shire Hall) if you want me to
    bring one over for you!
