5227.0. "AMIGA MAIL AT HOME" by LISVAX::FERNANDES (NUNO FERNANDES @XIP) Thu Nov 21 1991 10:42

Hello,

My name is Nuno Fernandes and i'm from DEC Portugal.
Is there any way for taking our mail messages from VMS ALLIN1 to the AMIGA
like we do whith the product A1SVC (ALLIN1 Services for MS-DOS)?

Thanks
Nuno Fernandes

I guess you could always run A1SVC under an IBM PC emulator on your
    Amiga...

I think the answer must be NO.

A longer answer would be: in several contacts with PCSG, they say that
support for personal computers which are not Macintosh or MS-DOS will
happen when they can show a profit at it. From my experience, it will
    be a very hard sell.

The DECnet software from Syndesis does support VMS mail, complete with
a VMS-like syntax. Obviously this isn't All-in-1 mail, but still useful.

It's too bad that CBM hasn't established the Amiga in the "business world",
because it makes such a nice networked "PC". More so than a Mac
or a PC w/DOS or Windows, due to it's strong multi-tasking performance.

I do see more and more people on Usenet buying ethernet boards and
running DECnet or TCP on their Amigas. Maybe this will help the Amiga to
gain some recognition in the networking world.

You could also install UUCP on the Amiga and route the messages through
a gateway of some sort. Not exactly a direct solution.
5227.6Its BOSE, not PCSGRANGER::BRANNONCurled up on a sunny window ledge somewhereThu Dec 05 1991 17:0218
    re: back a few:

Allin1 Services for MS-DOS is BOSE, not PCSG.

What they choose to offer/support is entirely up to BOSE, so you should
pursue this with the product manager and marketing folks for the
Allin1 Services for MS-DOS product. Sorry, but I don't know who that
    would be.

From what I've heard that product will also transfer mail over an
async connection using kermit (for laptops without a network connection).

BOSE seems to be much more into 3rd party relationships than PCSG so
you might have more success there getting the Amiga supported.

    regards,
    dennis
