| My CBM 3070 is also a Caliper (either a CP-150 or CPS-150, can't remember
which). The label doesn't matter.
I expect that this drive will work fine on your system. You'll need a SCSI
controller, and I suggest getting BTN (Better-Than-Nothing) Tape handler from
the fred Fish Disk.
BTN will allow you to use the tape drive with tar, or AmigaDOS commands. The
latest version also lets you append to the end of tape that already has stuff
on it. It supports a wide range of devices and controllers, including the 2090
controller which normally would have some SCSI problems. This is all 2000/3000
oriented, so I don't know what 500 controllers you can use, so you might want
to send out the doc files in BTN first. It uses standard SCSI access, so the
odds are in your favor that a good controller will work even if not listed.
The tapes you need are 3M 6150.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for your prompt and very clear response.
Can you or someone else help me a bit more.
1- I need help in obtaining the latest version of BTN from Fish disk.
I haven't got any downloading facility.
2- Can someone confirm what I need to buy as controler, bits & pieces
to connect the tape to an AMIGA500
Cheers, Patrick getting all excited....

| It's about $800 - overpriced IMHO. I bought it because I also run
unix and wanted to eliminate any problems with using the same tape drive
under both OS's. If I had only AmigaDOS, I'd probably buy a different
drive. I would have considered any drive supported by BTN (see fish
disks).
