5160.0. "Final Copy" by CARROL::MELLITZ () Wed Oct 30 1991 18:53

    Softwood has a new WP product called Final Copy that's suppose to use
    outline fonts that print with reasonable quality to a dot matrix
    printer.

    Any reviews?

5160.1Does anybody actually have a copy yet?IDONT::MIDDLETONJohnThu Oct 31 1991 08:3713
As far as I know, it hasn't shipped yet. I put my order in two weeks ago, but
haven't received it yet. I got the impression when talking to Woody (hence
SoftWood) Williams that it wasn't quite ready to go.

I will say that the flyer he sent around had a very impressive example sheet
demonstrating outline fonts as printed on a "typical" dot matrix printer. If
what I actually get on my printer is reasonably close to that, I'll be happy.
But I do expect printing with my stock Amiga 2000 to be slow, which is one of
the reasons I starting thinking about an accelerator.

5160.2Lots of outline fonts needed.BHOVS1::WILSONTLLead Trumpet (Read that...LEED!)Thu Oct 31 1991 09:5610
    I ordered it also (on the last day). I hope there are sufficient
    outline fonts available with the package to do reasonable things. The
    flyer didn't say if it could use bitmap fonts at all. This is chiefly
    from memory. I don't have the flyer with me.

    On the subject of the latter, has anyone a package that will convert
    bitmap fonts to outline or some such. I heard that Compugraphics was
    licensing their technology to developers.

It's true that individual developers (like Gold Disk) have licensed
Compugraphics technology, it's no longer necessary with AmigaDOS 2.04.
Compugraphics outline fonts are built into AmigaDOS.
