Im but a novice to the Amiga world and need a guide to using the VT220 handshake shareware prog. I have tried to transfer files created using SEDT from my amiga to a VAX at my local office but without much success . I do use the RZ and SZ commands but I appear to be using the wrong syntax. Can anyone give me/direct me to a simple step by step on how to send and recieve files . Thanks in advance Martin Sampayo

Martin, The most effective way I've found of accomplishing this task is to use LHArc to compress the text file(s) into a .lzh (binary)file. After logging into your VAX you initiatiate the transfer (on the VAX end) by typing RZ and the filename. Then on your terminal emulator invoke the command or memu item that "sends" the file (be sure your emulator is set up to send a binary file using z modem). Once the file is loaded onto the VAX use the VMS version of LHArc to extract the compressed files. As someone said before, there are numerous notes on transfers, emulators etc. etc. If after looking through some of these your still having trouble, send me some mail. -mt |
