5144.0. "some CED trivia" by VSSCAD::GATULIS (Frank Gatulis 226-6140) Thu Oct 24 1991 16:25

    I spoke to ASDG today and asked the tech rep about a next release. He
    told me he's not allowed to give tha information out because ASDG has
    no control over this. This is because the authors don't work for ASDG
    and ASDG (in the words of the tech rep) "is at their mercy". So until
    ther is an official announcement 2.11 is it. In the course of
    discussion he did however make references to "the next release".

    I also learned something else (at least it was news to me). I
    mentioned to ASDG that I just upgraded to 2.11 using their 2.11 patch
    in conjunction with LPatch (from my SAS C package). I asked - "how does
    a person take advantage of these patches if they don't own SAS/Lattice
    and have LPatch?" He told me that LPatch is also available on the
    bulletin boards where you find the ASDG patchfiles. Furthermore,
    LPatch found on the bulletin boards is the one from SAS/Lattice. He
    did not call it PD, but said that ASDG and other folks have permission
    to freely distribute LPatch.

I remember that the CrossDOS update that was made available on the net
a long time ago came with a copy of LPatch, and the documentation file
thanked Lattice for allowing the producers of CrossDOS to distribute
it.
