I've been looking around EOT for some music packages and came across
some tunes such as 1812.arc, bolero.arc, and a few with no extension.
I copied down the files, un-arced where necessary and tried to play
them using MEDplayer with no luck. Then I tried SMUSMIDI from Fred
Fish but they aren't DCMS format so no luck there either. They had
their own icon so I tried clicking on them but with no response there
either.
Anybody know what player they require?

| 5141.1 | Format is DMSC | JGODCL::LOENDERSLOOT | Thu Oct 24 1991 12:11 | 8 | |
These Music files you mention are DMCS format and have to be played
with DMSC of a DMCS player. Since DMCS format is different from the
SMUS format you cannot directly use a program like SMUSMIDI to convert
it to MIDI files.

I wrote SMUSMIDI to convert SMUS files save by DMCS to MIDI files. But DMCS saves 2 differeing formats: a proprietary one, and SMUS. Those files could be in the proprietary format. I don't know what format MED takes. TOm | |||||
