You'll need a modem cable to connect the modem to the RS232 serial port
on the back of the A500. You'll also need a communications program.
There are several good VT100 & VT200 emulators available in the public
domain (free) or as "shareware" (send a modest donation to the author
if you like it). The best source would be another "Amigoid" in your
area (Galway, Ireland) who can give it to you on a diskette. (Getting
started presents a "chicken and egg" sort of problem. 8^)

There are LOTS of notes in this conference to help you with downloading
of files, once you get that far. You'll also find that the entire Fred
Fish collection of freely-distributable software (now numbering over
550 diskettes full) is available on the Engineering Net.
