5139.0. "Hyperbase, BbaseII, Fileit" by TOOK::KEEGAN (Peter Keegan) Wed Oct 23 1991 23:06
Any HYPERBASE users out there?
When I run hyperbase (from Fish disk #???), it eats up the CPU
even when nothing is "happening". The perfmon meter pegs at
100% ! I thought I saw a note here once that some folks were
using this database program with some amount of satisfaction.
On one occasion, my entire system hung, forcing a reboot.
While on the subject of PD databases (or list processors), I've
only found three available thru Fish:
Hyperbase (fair interface, CPU pig)
Fileit (lousy user interface, non-ASCII database file)
BbaseII (nice interface, ASCII db file, limited to 9 fields)
I like BBaseII, but am getting stifled by its limitations.
I hate to pay big bucks for a commercial product to do some
rather simple list/mail applications; can anyone comment on
their experiences in this area?
