5112.1 | While we're talking fonts... | SSDEVO::YESSE | | Thu Oct 10 1991 15:16 | 10 |
| Rather than start another font topic, let me add my font-related
question here. Given the enormous (printer) font selection in
the PC/Mac worlds, does there exist a "font translator" program
of some kind that will allow such fonts to be used with the Amiga?
I'm mainly interested in running Prof. Page with fonts not
currently available for it, for Postscript output. (Assume the
font would have to be downloaded to a PS printer.)
Thanks,
Keith Y.

| re: .0
I thought there was a font directory off of eot::amiga:[amiga], but
there isn't one now. Maybe another note has a pointer, so try a dir/title=font
and it will give a few places to check.
re: .1
There is a program on FF138 called MacFont, which will convert Mac bitmap
fonts into Amiga bitmap fonts. If you're looking for something
to generate postscript fonts, this won't help you. What font format does
PP use? Amiga, display ps, or some scalable variety?

For a variety of bitmapped fonts, take a look at
DFS::DFS$DUA1:[AMIGA]fonts.zoo
This is a 1000+ block ZOO file filled with a whole bunch of ARC files
containing bitmap fonts.

I presume PPage fonts are scalable as opposed to bitmapped,
but then I'm still pretty much a novice at this stuff..

5112.5 | How 'bout outline fonts... | BHOVS1::WILSONTL | Lead Trumpet (Read that...LEED!) | Wed Oct 16 1991 15:18 | 6 |
| There is a pretty good article about fonts in one of the latest Amiga
magazines (bitmapped vs. outline fonts). On the subject of the latter,
I just ordered "Final Copy" from Softwood. This is a (sort of) upgrade
to PenPal and it uses outline fonts. Any of those available online?

5112.6 | TEXfonts is the answer | PEEVAX::LAWSON | Terror Australis | Tue Oct 22 1991 02:27 | 12 |
| re: .0
About two years back, I downloaded "texfonts" from one of the nodes. It
might have been on a fish disk. These are mathematically generated
fonts....which have to be regenerated on your system.
Sizes range from about 30 pixels up to 103 pixels and include musical
symbols. I use 'em in DPIII.
Happy sleuthing

Is FONTS.ZOO back online anywhere? I checked out the refs
in the fonts notes but can't find it.

| I believe the contents of FONTS.ZOO (all the individual ARC files) can
be found at:
CRISTA""::AMIFONTS:
2001.ARC;1 3
AMIFNT.ARC;1 12
BASIC.ARC;1 22
BOXYFT.ARC;1 16
CELTIC.ARC;1 67
CHICAGO.ARC;1 22
CLEANIBM.ARC;1 6
CRAMER.ARC;1 162
DHFNTS.ARC;1 18
DHFONT.ARC;1 18
FONT1.ARC;1 140
GHOSTFONT.ARC;1 4
MACCON.ARC;1 33
MACFONT.ARC;1 344
NOSTAL.ARC;1 4
PBFONT.ARC;1 32
PEARL.ARC;1 4
PICFONTS.ARC;1 61
PIRATE.ARC;1 8
SENATE.ARC;1 45
SNAKE.ARC;1 15
STFONT.ARC;1 13
TEKFONT.ARC;1 15
Total of 23 files, 1064 blocks.
However, as discussed in a previous note (somewhere), I think some of
the ARC files are corrupt.

5112.9 | Copy to floppy please | CRISPY::NONDEP | Il est des fois que je souhaite.... | Sun Dec 08 1991 11:54 | 9 |
| If I send a floppy to someone can they copy-download these fonts and
return the floppy.
This would be much appreciated.
P.S. I'm looking for a font like signature from KARAfonts in 10-12 pica
pitch size anyone knows of equivalent in PD or shareware ?
Cheers, Patrick
