5069.0. "Larn 12.3: anyone have it running?" by AIDEV::LANDINGHAM (Guy M., LMO2-1/D10, 296-5365) Mon Sep 23 1991 22:41

I recently pulled the Larn 12.3 executable from the Amiga binaries conference.
Had no problems building and unpacking the archive, but I can't get Larn to run.
I get a small window with a message "Can't open window" and then a visit from
the old wise man on the mountaintop.

Has anyone gotten this to run?

    Yes, I successfully ran it on my 3000. Did you follow the installation
    instructions?

    I haven't tried the new version, but as I recall, the old version was
    very stack intensive. I created a little script to increase the stack
    and do all of the initialization stuff. In my opinion, this made the
    game run much better than when executed by double-clicking on the icon.

Yea, that's what I suspected, especially when I looked at Larn's .info file and
it specified a stack size of 100000. But it crashes when run from the icon
also, briefly displaying the same error msg: "Can't open window".

Over the years I've gone through a plethora of different console devices,
perhaps I need a particular one mounted (or I can't have one mounted that I have
now)?

I tried taking a fresh Workbench 1.3 disk, copying it, stripping it down, and
putting Larn on there. Still crashes with the same msg. I'm perplexed...
