5040.1 | maybe Albany, NY? | WHAMMY::spodaryk | For three strange days... | Thu Sep 12 1991 15:10 | 10 |
| I can't quite place Burlington on my mental map of Vermont, but if there
aren't any local VT Amiga shops, you might want to take a trip down to
Albany NY. That's _probably_ the next closest metropolitan area,
and I'm sure that there are a couple of Amiga stores in the Capital District.
ie. Albany/Schenectady/Troy (At least there were 3-4 years ago)
I think Albany is about any hour west of Burlington on rt7. Or maybe
that was Bennington? :^|

| That was Bennington. Burlington is several hours further to
the north. I'm not sure they even know how to say computer in
Burlington :-). Just kidding, I used to live in Essex Junction
just outside Burlington when I was working for big blue. Real
nice part of New England. There aren't many computer stores around
though. If you're really hard up, you could try contacting someone
at UNH. They probably have a bookstore or computer store and you might
get lucky.
The other option is call CBM at 1-800-627-9595 and tell them you are
looking for an authorized dealer.

| Why don't you just do your shopping mailorder. The phone and postage bills
will be a lot less than when you are home, and also less than in stores.
Given that you are just passing through and presumably don't have your
system with you, there is little advantage to using a dealer other than
seeing the merchandise.
I have had good luck with several of the mail order outfits listed in
AmigaWorld: Computability, Creative/GoAmigo(they are the same), Manta.
While there are benefits to using a dealer, they mostly only apply when the
dealer is close to where you have your machine.

re .3
Can you provide phone #'s for some of those dealers. I tried to get hold
of an Amigaworld copy here in BVT, standard reply here was "Amiga
What ?". I'm planning on buying a GVP A500 seriesII HD, any
suggestions?
Thanks, RAy :^)

| If you want to see Amiga stuff, you could drive to Montreal. We have a
few good dealers with prices that very often match US mail order (I
paid $450{Can} for a 105Mb Quantum LPS which is advertised at $375
{US} in AW)
If you want directions, mail me a message.
PS Lots of things to see/do in Montral too besides computers.

5040.7 | some mail order sources for you | CIMNET::KYZIVAT | Paul Kyzivat | Sat Sep 14 1991 14:20 | 21 |
| Some mail(phone) order places that seem to have good prices and which I
believe to be reputable. I have used most of them. My favorites at the
moment are the first two.
Manta: 800-477-7706
Computability: 800-558-0003
Creative Computers: 800-872-8882 (Also known as GoAmigo)
BriWall: 800-638-5757
Computer Basics: 800-262-0533
The GrapeVine Group: 800-292-7445 (Hardware only)
You will probably find whatever you want at one of these for a good price.
If you pay a bit extra for 2nd day air, you should be able to get things
from any of these places in 2-3 days. (You will need a credit card.)
If you want generic stuff (not Amiga specific) like naked hard drives, then
look for a copy of Computer Shopper at a news stand. It is about the size
of a telephone book.
Good Luck,
Paul
