| Spoilers :
(1) try looking elsewhere for a sword.
(2) have patience
(3) don't just waltz around all over the place; there's one obvious
place to start looking.
Jamie.
P.S. This is the first adventure game I've fully completed. It's
absolutely fantastic... can't wait for MI2 !

| A few things that will help...
o If you didn't realise yet, the locations you can get to are not
limited to the village; if you go left of the dock where you start
you go to an island map and there are plenty of places to explore.
o You have an unlimited inventory, so in any new place, see what
"highlights", examine it etc. and if you can, *pick it up*, some
unlikely things are necessary later. You will waste time if you leave
things that you can pick up behind.
o Always take note of what people say, some things which might seem like
just jokes are actually clues as to what to do, where to go next.
o If you haven't, talk to all the pirates you can in SCUMM bar, they'll
give you a couple of ideas as to what has been going on.
o "Walk about". Sounds silly, but twice in the game I was stuck because
I had simply not realised that there was a new location "over there"
e.g. walking left of where you start.
Hope this helps ... reply again for more help if not!

| Re .1:
Jamie, if you liked MI then you will also like Indiana Jones and the
Last (?) Crusade - the adventure game (NOT the arcade game). The
interface is the same as for MI and the puzzles are very good.

| I'll try it. Thanks for the recommendation. I heard that Lucasfilms
were releasing another Indiana Jones game; something about Atlantis. I
saw some screenshots that looked really stunning. I hope they make a
film along the same lines!
Cheers,
Jamie.

| what a great game - but I'm stuck...any helpful hints?
I am stuck on the boat (stage 2) with a mutinous crew, no recipe for soup,
a locked cupboard, a flaming mass, cereal galore, a loaded cannon, lots
of rope and I'm rapidly getting nowhere!
Help?

Alan,
Try exploring the captain's quarters again, open everything you can, and look
in everything you can. There's a *lot* there. (Have you read the old
captain's log?)
Good luck,
Jim--now awaiting "Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge" to wash up on the Amiga
shores...

| I got stuck there for a long time. Have you actually opened the cereal
packet? I didn't realise you could do this for some time, and it's
crucial. Find the recipe also!
