| Well I tried to modify the entry FRSOLD::AMIGA_APPL to RYN::AMIGA_APPL
and notes set it couldn't find the conference on RYN::

| Sorry, I didn't notice .1. ryn is running ultrix and feeds news
directly. ryn is right here in mro4 so I use that instead of the
frsold/notes route.

| For some reason, I cannot successfully run Vnews or XRN on SHLUMP; so if the
FRSOLD conferences require shlump that may be the reason.

something happend recently to shlump to interfere with my reading
vnews from it. (probably software upgrade). This can be corrected
however by updating to the latest version of vnews with get-vnews.com
I doubt if this problem and the problem of the notes file on "frsold"
not shadowing the usenet stuff are related , as FRSOLD stopped
shadowing some time ago , whereas the problem with shlump only
happened within the last week.

| late answer but.....
YES, i use(d) SHLUMP to grab the usenet-stuff. But during my holiday
and training weeks in August/September SHLUMP rejected NNTP-connections
I switched to node NNTPD and now (since 3 weeks) everything should be
normal. I heard from a collegue that SHLUMP is now a OSI/DNA PhaseV
test-node and this causes the problems with the usenet-connection.
I future i try to follow the USNET-BACKBONE-conference to discover
these problems a bit erlier, to provide a good and reliable usenet/
notes-feed for the DEC-Amigos.

| SHLUMP is no longer a USENET server - NNTPD was explicitly put in place
to take over for SHLUMP.
