Hi all, I have read most of the monitor notes in this file and I have seen references to a switch box to allow a multi-sync monitor to be driven either with the output of a flicker-fixer or the ordinary amiga video port. Does anyone know where I could aquire such a switch? I have a flicker fixer and am in the process of aquiring a multi-sync monitor and I would like to be able to use it at both frequency for games and things that might blur. Thanks in advance Harry

Re: .0 From the memo (posted elsewhere in this notesfile) by the designer of the MicroWay FlickerFixer: >How can I use the new display modes if I have a flickerFixer? > > Just connect your monitor to the Amiga 23 pin RGB output. > If desired, a standard 9-pin switchbox can be set up to switch > a multiscan monitor between the flickerFixer and the Amiga > output connectors. Check with your dealer (or Redmond Cable). Redmond advertises in the Amiga magazines. They manufacture/stock all sorts of weird cables and switch boxes for connecting anything to anything else.

re -.1 Thanks for the info Randy! I called Redmont and got a quote for the monitor cable I needed which turned out to be a straight through 9 pin connector. The want 60.00 for the switch box which seems kinda pricy to me so I am going to check around a little first. The cable to connect the flicker-fixer to my newly purchased Samsung monitor was 18.00 plus shipping.

Redmond is pricy, but then again any vendor that makes low volume items such as cables tends to be that way. My local dealer tries to carry a good variety of cables, but due to the cost there is no room for markup. It turns out to be more of a service than anything else. Of course people that come in looking for a special cable all think the dealer is gouging them. If I'm around I tell them they could always make their own, and then pay to have the Amiga repaired if they mess it up. I paied $50.00 for the parallel switch box I use now. it was high but the quality was there. Cables, and switch boxs have been the BANE of computer users since day one. bill |
