4897.1 | You'll probably have to order SID 2. | WAREGL::WILSONTL | Lead Trumpet (Read that...LEED!) | Mon Jul 15 1991 16:44 | 4 |
| RE: SID 2.0 (and beyond)...from what I saw in the LZH file on SID 2.0,
you will probably have to order it from the source (i.e., they are
requiring you to send your contribution before you'll be able to obtain
the software.)

been cashed either.

I haven't received it either, unfortunately I sent a money order.
I sure hope it will be out soon.
Re: .0
About hear, if my memory serves me right, I used a program form a
fred fish (sound?). I can't remember a "default" being included
in SID 1.06. There are plenty of sound player around.

4897.4 | Sidless | DECEAT::PETERSON | snowball has a better chance | Mon Jul 22 1991 17:32 | 6 |
| Just to add another name to the list - I sent my check in mid-April.
I haven't received it (yet) nor has the check been cashed. I wonder
what's happening? I thought I was the only one who didn't receive it.
At least I'm not alone. That doesn't make me feel much better, though.

4897.5 | Sidlessness | DECWET::DAVIS | you always get what you deserve | Mon Jul 22 1991 22:56 | 7 |
| I read on the now defunct Plink network that Timm moved, took awhile to
get his computer back up and running and that a beta version of SID 2.0
is in certain tester's hands. His new BBS number is 1-606-344-1647
although neither I nor a couple of other people I've talked to have
been able to get through.

4897.7 | Where's the beef?! | HSSTPT::WILSONTL | Lead Trumpet (Read that...LEED!) | Tue Jul 23 1991 09:16 | 3 |
| I went out and bought DiskMaster until SID2.0 is out for consumption.
I like SID better, but I can't stand the hesitation that occurs in
1.06. It makes me nervous and about half the time results in the guru.

4897.9 | No more gurus from SID 1.06 | KAOFS::V_LEDOUX | E.T. Notes Home | Tue Jul 23 1991 09:38 | 13 |
| RE: -.1
I am not sure I fully understand what you mean by "I can't stand the
hesitation that occurs in SID 1.06" and also " half the time results
in the guru".
I used to have gurus while using SID 1.06 (normally while trying
to read a directory). Ed Smith, in a previous note found a way
to correcxt the problem. Read the previous SID notes. Also since
I have been using WB1.3.2, I havent seen any gurus from SID 1.06
Vince.
PS: Diskmaster is indeed a good second choice, not quite as flexible
than SID though.

4897.10 | Right subject, RONG note... | HSSTPT::WILSONTL | Lead Trumpet (Read that...LEED!) | Tue Jul 23 1991 10:46 | 7 |
| Sorry, I thought my reply on SID was in this note. I was referring to
my discussion in 4864.8 in which I was describing my problem of SID1.06
"freezing" at the end of a directory search for considerable periods of
time, sometimes it would resume, sometimes it would guru. This seems
to happen consistantly under 2.0, never under 1.3.3.

4897.11 | SID 1.06 LISTARC problem | TRUCKS::BUSSINK_E | Switzerland 700th, D-9 | Tue Jul 23 1991 11:13 | 8 |
| I've noticed another small bugs, with the archive set to warp, and
you try to LISTARC, it will prompt in a window
c:arc l
which is the LISTARC for the ARC archive. any clue ?

4897.12 | Consider DW as well.. | MEO78B::MANDERSON | Amiga + '030 == MicroCRAY | Tue Jul 23 1991 20:08 | 8 |
| I believe the SID problem/fix being refered to is a small change to the
config file to have the directories mixed and not separate in the
listing. After I did this I had no further guru's/hangs.
FWIW I have started to use DW and find it heaps nicer to use.

4897.14 | LHARC now works too! | PEEVAX::LAWSON | | Wed Jul 31 1991 20:59 | 9 |
| Strange, but I have always had a visit from the guru when trying to
un-arc LZH files from within SID 1.06. No probs with ZOO or ARC.
I did the SEPERATEDIRS=NO and this bug is now fixed.
Thanks..

to unarchive a file.

Many things have been happening in the last six months. The author
(Timm Martin) has moved from his old address (FL) to a new location (OH),
and is working full time for a major firm. He has, however, been working
dilligently on SID2.0, which is in (hopefully) final beta testing as we
speak. You can rest assured this is SEVERELY debugged code (read: SOLID).
The author is finishing up touches on the custom prefs editing sections of
the program, which at one point were going to be a separate utility. This
program is TOTALLY customizable, down to the screen graphics, fonts, hot keys,
menus, etc. I have been using SID2.0 under both WB1.3 and WB2.0 for about
six months now (I'm a beta tester ;-), and it works great! Trust me, be
patient for a little while longer; it'll be worth the wait!
