4887.0. "LHarc problems" by TRUCKS::BUSSINK_E (Erik Bussink,Fareham UK,782-2272) Thu Jul 11 1991 05:18

    I've got some problems with LHarc, when I archive some files in an
    .lzh file, and unLHarc then on the amiga, they are ok. But when I
    upload them on the VAX, I can't test, or List. Only the first file
    is alright. Does that meens the whole archive is faulty, or just the
    fact to use it on the VAX, and that if downloaded on an amiga, it
    will work properly ?

    	How powerfull is 'Pak', which is another compression system ?

4887.1VMS Filesyatem Problems Again!KALI::PLOUFFDevoted to his LawnThu Jul 11 1991 11:0013
    Do a DIR/TITLE=DOWNLOAD in this notesfile for plenty of gory details.
    You have probably run into a problem with the many file formats of VMS.

    From the VMS prompt, type
    	DIR/FULL filename.lzh

    If the record type is shown as "variable length," then VMS LHARC will
    not read the file correctly. Get CVTARC and then type
    	CVTARC U filename.lzh

    LHARC should then be able to read the contents of the archive.

4887.2Use Zmodem if you can...BOMBE::MOOREAmiga: Where 'multimedia' REALLY beganThu Jul 11 1991 16:434
    Generally, archives uploaded using KERMIT need to be converted before
    they can be manipulated with the VMS equivalent utilities. Files
    uploaded via Xmodem, Zmodem, etc. are usually in the required format.
