4882.1 | look before you leap - then happy to help | DATABS::TENNY | Dave Tenny - Object Based Systems | Wed Jul 10 1991 08:41 | 7 |
| I posted both this same question, and answers to your question
elsewhere in this conference.
Do a DIR/TIT on "BBS" or "BULLETIN" until you find it.
(YOu should have done that before asking.... )

| See note 3813 - I've summarized the BBS software available
in the public domain (from fish disks anyway, but only up
until a certain date, BBS's released since my posting won't
have been evaluated).

Thanks, Dave I feel suitably humbled ;-|
However my question was a two part one. First the software, which your
previous note gives a coupleof pointers to. Second, question still
stands though.
Can I get two serial ports/modems on my A500? If so how?
(And does the PD BB S/W support more tham one incoming call?)
Regards, Mark.

| I don't recall any comercially available serial port add-ons for the
A500, but there is a PD hardware project to build 2 (or 4) additional
serial ports. It was published in Amazing Computing magazine several
months ago, and I believe the complete information is also available
from TAPE::AMIGA:[AMIGA.HARDWARE]IOEXPANSION.LZH.

| Can't help with the 2 port question. I have one suggestion,
when you do a dir/tit="BBS", most of the topics point to
bulletin board systems for the Amiga that are being
operated already. Perhaps if you contacted some of those
BBS owners, they could point you in the right direction.
Good luck.

| Regarding ports:
You can get one of the card cage extenders for the 500 (like Bodega Bay),
and then add one of the serial card options, which range from one to eight
extra serial ports.
This may be a bit more expense than you desire.
Don't know about BB support for the extra ports - I would hope so.
