4869.0. "HELP! DESKJET 500 HELP!" by NZOMIS::GEMPTON () Thu Jul 04 1991 04:05

    HELP !

    I have just brought a HP deskjet 500 for my AMIGA and discovered that
    the drivers on workbench 1.3 hardly suport it.

    Does anyone know if the drivers on the new workbench 2.0 are any good?
    Or are there any word processing / page making packages avaliable that
    fully suport the HP deskjet 500 ?

    I have tried Word Perfect 4.1 for the amiga, boy what a step backwards
    from Word Perfect 5.1 (DOS).

    If you have any sugestions I would appreicate you help.

    Thanks.

4869.1Ask dealer, bring a diskDFN8LY::JANZENTom 223-5140 MLO23-1Thu Jul 04 1991 16:284
Local Amiga dealers are supposed to have all current printer drivrs.
Ask your local dealer or Amiga club for the deskjet driver. Give the model
#.

4869.2Super_DJ and DJHelper are good driversCSC32::R_RASHThu Jul 04 1991 20:1830
    I just recently bought a DeskJet 500+. What I did was a buy a product
    from Creative Focus called "DJ Helper". It is an expansion on their
    "Super_DJ" which is basically a hands off printer driver for the
    DeskJet. (Its very good if that's all you need. )

    DJ Helper : (From a flyer that came with it.)
    ___________________________________________________________________________

    Includes:

    Conversion, downloading, and selection of soft fonts, precise
    positioning of graphics by row, dot or decipoint, control over all page
    dimensions (margins, lpi, &c.), free manipulation of the grayscale
    values of images, full access to all typefaces, character sets and font
    sizes, keeping different configurations for each job or program,
    redefinition of any and all AmigaDOS commands, and binary file editing
    in both Hex and ASCII.

    Those are just highlights of four full screens of unmatched capability.
    DJHelper works with every Amiga and requires AmigaDOS 1.3 or later (it
    is 2.0 compatible).

    Anyway it works great, and can be bought for around $30 mail order. I
    think the Super_DJ was around $15?

    Hope this helps,

    Randy thanks for the help.

    Do you have a fax number for creative focus ?
    I mailed them an order about 10 days ago and have not heard a word.

    Thanks again.
