4860.0. "VIEW80 II" by DECWET::DAVIS (you always get what you deserve) Fri Jun 28 1991 02:08
I have been using View80 II from FF488 for a while now and I must say that
I am impressed with the software. View80 is a shareware ASCII textfile
reader that will allow you to read up to 10 files (BUFFERS)simultaneously.
You can paste a range of text, to select a range just click on a gadget and
drag through the text you want to select, locally or globally to any of the
buffers(it uses the CLIPBOARD device so should be compatible with other
programs that uses the CLIP). To select a buffer just click on its number,
if it is empty double clicking on the buffer number will bring up the
req.library requestor(supplied with archive). You can print the range or
the buffer(s) you are reading or redirect it to a file. You can customize
the screen colors, printer preference (and include a printer preamble to
set special modes in your printer if it needs it), include or remove ANSI
codes, choose how to handle non-printable characters, make searching case
sensitive and 'global'--search all buffers-- (or not), use a different FONT
as long as it is non-proportional and in an 8x8 format, and a LOT more.
The program will store your preferences in a config file. Each buffer can
have its own printer, tab size, word wrap, and printable character
settings. View80 opens up on its own custom screen and is 48K in size and
uses 56K of chip and 70K of fast ram with no file loaded as compared to
MuchMore which is 16K in size and uses 64128 chip and 51320 fast ram with a
2byte file loaded. PLUS it has the smoooooothest scrolling I have ever
seen on an amiga. I like the req.library requestor, too! Check it out.
