I just recently got a hard drive, the software installation automagically puts workbench onto my autoboot partition. However it doesn't seem to put everything over. How do I work out whether the install's wbench is later than my commodore disk I got with Ami? Is there a copy parameter that will only copy things onto the destination if they aren't there already? And maybe prompt you with an option to replace a file? Cheers, Greg

The quickest way to get the workbench version number is from the workbench's pulldown menu. There's an entry ("info" or "version") that gives the workbench and kickstart version numbers. Boot each of your hard disk and your floppy system and see! The difference between one and the other should be the hard disk driver and mountlists, so if your floppy is more recent, just copy everything else over. There was an update from Commodore available on the net some time back which I applied to my hard disk system with no problems. Yours Erg | |||||

What was this update? How do Commodore handle updates? I registered with Commodore and get promo info from them, but nothing about updates! cheers, Greg |
