Sorry about this note, but I intend to make the 'new14accel' this weekend and I need a definative statement that clarifies if a 68000p8 is pin for pin compatible with a 68000p16, if they are in the same DIL (64 pin) package, i.e. replacing the current 68000p8 in the amiga with a 68000p16 - will it blow my machine through the ceiling ?. I appreciate that I have already a request for this info in 4731.7 but I need this info urgently. Thanks in advance. Dave V.

In a word, YES, the 68000p16 chip works just fine in the Amiga's CPU socket. I ran one in my 2000 for a while, no problems (and no benefit without a corresponding clock rate increase). | |||||

Thanks, Mr Moore. On the basis of your clarification, the 'net' wiring list is wrong !, as per the 'New14Accel' project. Once again thanks. Dave V. |
