| I have A10 for the Amiga.
Firstly the actual flight simulator itself is quite good. The graphics
are good quality and it scrolls well. It uses a new "World Interface"
that allows you to change the various levels of detail ( in cockpit,
out cockpit, background detail, sound etc. ) as I have a 1 meg A500 I
can have all these settings on at least medium without slowing it down
to much.
The game is basically a preset number of missions ( 6/7 I think cant
remember of the top of my head ) that can be flown independently or as
part of a campaign.
Overall opinion.
I was disappointed. The graphics are OK but not revolutionary, much of
the cockpit ( which was much talked about as it was an actual Image of
a real cockpit ) is hard to see and superfluous to the game. The
explosions ( again much heralded ) when you hit an enemy arent that
spectacular and when youve seen one youve seen em all. There are a very
limited number of missions, I prefer the MicroProse approach of several
world regions each with many, many different scenarios. For example M1
tank platoon has 2 million possible scenarios !
Moving from menu to menu takes time and the graphics although pretty
that acompany the menus are again repetitive and predictable. I would
say it compares with Fighter Bomber for its actual flight sim
capabilities and with Aces - The Blue Max for its slooooow menu and
limited scenarios.
What I do like is the training aspect ( you copilot talks you through
it ), the individual mission best performance records and the fact that
on a couple of missions you receive instructions / info from other
friendly aircraft in the vicinity / who are on the mission with you.
Oh yeah another nit. When your hit it switches to an outside view of
your plane and then back to the menu, you don't get any details as to
how you bought it.
If I knew then what I know now ( hmm catchy phrase maybe ) I would not
spend my money on this game.
Regards,
Chris
