4641.0. "TSSNET developer contact???" by SKYLRK::BARTLETT () Thu Mar 28 1991 11:27

    I have a customer that is interested in DDCMP for an MC68020 embedded
    processor, and I thought that he might be able to get some help from
    the company that developed TSSNET. Can someone give me a person to
    contact regarding this?

Is this DDCMP for a "generic" MC68020, or for a specific type of machine?
TSSnet was/is developed by Thursby Software Systems. Thursby works with
DEC to provide the Mac implementation of TSSnet.

Syndesis provides the Amiga implementation of TSSnet. If you want Amiga
specifics call Syndesis at (608) 455-1422.

If the question is more "generic", send me mail and I can get you in
touch with TSS.

    DDCMP is a pretty simple protocol. You can probably develop it
    yourself in a month.

4641.3Thanks for the information.SKYLRK::BARTLETTMon Apr 01 1991 16:0511
    Thanks for the information on who to contact for TSSNET. The
    MC68020 implementation is a generic implementation since it is for
    and embedded processor. The communications device is an Intel
    87C196 that does RS422 and some sort of BiSync communications protocol.
    I've also heard that the DECRouter 200/250 is MC68000 based and that
    it does a lot of DDCMP.

    Our original suggestion to the customer was to just write it from the
    specification, but he would like advice, examples, and maybe some
    consulting. We are working on this, but I'm basically doing pre-
    proposal research right now.

    There is a DEC manual, whose number I don't remember, which describes
    the DDCMP protocol in great detail. As far as advice and consulting,
    Digital can provide as much of that as he wants, at a suitable price.
    We have a department, whose name I also don't remember, which does
    that.
        John Sauter
4641.5We have the DDCMP specification.SKYLRK::BARTLETTTue Apr 02 1991 11:123
    Yes, we already have the DDCMP specification. We are also working
    on some expert consulting assistance with Digital. Every little bit
    helps.
