i don't have the manual with me, but prowrite
allows both the page number and the total number
of pages to be inserted into the header or footer.
that way you could have 'page 1 of 5' or something
along those lines.

in the pull-down that hase the total pages and
date/time and stuff, there should be the current
page as well.

    This was my impression too. But I think something is not working.
    
    As when I ask to have my pages numbered it just comes out 5 on page 1
    5on page 2 ....5 on page 5.
    
    How should i do it       ?

    It works in ProWrite 3.0 for me.  Try the following:
    
    	Action				Menu Selection
    1.	Select the header or footer.	Document/Edit Header
    2.	Type "Page "
    3.	Insert (current) page number.	Edit/Insert/Page Number
    4.	Type " of "
    5.	Insert page count.		Edit/Insert/Page Count
    6.	Return to the document.		Document/Edit Document
    
    I have a sample document open in another screen where I have done the
    above and the page numbers are displaying properly.
    (Isn't multi-tasking WONDERFUL? 8^)
    
    Perhaps the terms "number" and "count" are reversed in your parlance
    from what the authors of ProWrite intended.  For ProWrite purposes,
    "Page Number" is the number of the current page, while "Page Count" is
    the total number of pages (excluding the title page).  I can understand
    the confusion, given that "count" and "number" are synonyms.

    except one:
    				Readability.
     
    A definition of readability: Capable of being read with pleasure or 
                                 interest
    
    What is a "good" text ? A high number or a lower ?  I vary in between 7
    and +-16

    The "readability" is a calculated grade level, which is supposed to be
    based upon the complexity of the sentence structure and the vocabulary
    used.  (In this case, I think the calculation uses word, sentence, and
    paragraph lengths without dealving much deeper.)  It is expressed as a
    number that correlates to the U.S. educational system, where 12 is the
    final year of "high school".  13+ would be university levels.
    
    Most newspapers in the U.S. aim at 8th grade readability (age 14),
    trying to avoid "talking down" to their readership while retaining ease
    of understanding.

    I was browsing in a book store recently and ran into a flip-chart that
    compared several of the most popular English translations of the Bible. 
    In addition to showing how each one rendered a verse from Job, each
    translation's readability was expressed using both a numeric level and
    a brief assessment.  I jotted down a few (planning someday to produce
    this kind of information for the adult education group at my church),
    and thought you might find them interesting.

    On the print submenu there are several fields. Most are either self
    explanatory and/or have details on the manual but nothing for printer
    font number
    ......

    What does it do to change the number and can I use it on a LJ252 "HP
    Paintjet"

    Both ProWrite and excellence! have the feature you mentioned (changing
    the font number).  I feel the terminology is really misleading.   
    Changing those numbers actually causes the word processor to generate
    an escape sequence which is supposed to select one of the "language
    character sets" as follows:
    
    n	Character set
    -- 	-------------
    0 	USA
    1	French
    2	German
    3	UK
    4	Danish
    5	Swedish
    6	Italian
    7	Spanish
    8	Japanese
    9	Norwegain
    10	Danish
    
    What actually happens on "your" system depends on the print driver and
    the printer you are using.  If you have source code to the print driver
    you are using, it is trivial to modify a table such that selecting
    these numbers actually selects a different internal printer font 
    (eg times, helvitica, draft, etc).

    Hello it's me again.
    
    I've tried for the last 3 hours to play with prowritev3.1.1 to create a
    labelling database,merge  whatever we can call it and I can't get it to
    print my labels. It will print one record and then scroll "one complete
    page US size" and then print th second record.......etc
    
    This is what I have done:
    
    I have created a document called Labels containing the following:
    <<Name>>
    <<Adrress>>
    <<Code>> <<City>>
    <<Country>>
    
    
    I have created a document called Address containing the following:
    
    Name,..............Address,.................City,................
    Code,..............Country
    Mr Blog,           123 roeuf ewpofi,        toeifppowepfoeufuefjjd,
    1234567,           france CR
    Mrs Blwer,         45667 repogu rotiu g iorgoir roi, tjoitui,

    etc......
    
    I have saved the first document as Normal and the Address
    "document/database" as Text, feed after paragraph.
    Both documents are on the same floppy disc.
    I have change/saved page setup to 2 inches, 6 lines,,....in Prowrite, 
    in preference at the printer setup, tried rebooting... well probably 
    every possibilty but one the right one ! 
    
    Simple question: What do I need to do to to get all or a selected
    number of record to print continuously once instructed to do so ?

    back to the U.S. Is it normal practice ?

    I called New Horizons's Software last week regarding the 3.2 upgrade.
    They said that registered users were/are being notified my mail. I told
    them I have not yet received the notice and they said no problem, just 
    send them $25. and the original program disk and they will send the
    upgrade. This price is for version 3.0 or greater. I didn't ask about
    upgrading pre-3.0 versions.

I don't remember where I put info about the 3.2 to 3.2.1 ProWrite Patch, but
I'll put the info about the newer 3.2 *or* 3.2.1 to 3.2.2 patch here.

From the readme:

To patch ProWrite, simply move the files of this archive
into the directory where ProWrite is installed.  Then,
execute the "ProWrite_Porgram" script either from the
CLI/Shell, or by clicking on its icon.  After the
patching is done, you may remove the six files in this
archive.  This script will determine which version of
ProWrite that you have and install the correct patch
for it.

These files will patch ProWrite 3.2 or ProWrite 3.2.1 to
   version 3.2.2.  It will also patch the PostScript Prep
   file to the latest version.  The PostScript Prep file
   did not change between 3.2.1 and 3.2.2.

As a note:
  The file PW3.2-3.2.2.pch is the ProWrite 3.2 to
      3.2.2 patch file.
  The file PW3.2.1-3.2.2.pch is the ProWrite 3.2.1 to
      3.2.2 patch file.
  The file PostScript_Prep.pch is the PostScript Prep
      patch file.
  lpatch is the file that does the patching and is
      freely distributable.

  If you would like to patch the files yourself, and
  bypass the script, you may get a synopsis of how the
  lpatch command works by typing 'lpatch' on a CLI/Shell
  prompt line by itself.  It contains the necessary
  information on how it works.

    Does anyone know of either a PD or shareware French Theusaurus 
    working with Prowrite 3.2(soon) and WB2 as New Horizon is not doing
    one......
