Has anybody been able to get rid of the following
SCRIPT-ERROR IN LINE 0 TOKEN: SRX
UNKNOWN COMMAND
This is when I use VLT version (any) at the moment I'm on ver 5.034
I'm running Arexx version 1.10
This seems to happen when the bell is being access (ie a new mail or an
error when logging in)
I've tried starting Ping using RX setping.rexx or even just typing ping
at the CLI..

| 4597.1 | Are you sure that's "ANY" version of VLT? | MADRE::MWM | Mon Mar 18 1991 17:38 | 6 | |
It looks like your script is issuing an SRX command. This command is no longer in VLT, for (I believe) any version number 5.xxx. I'd guess you still have the old startping script installed, and not the new one that comes with the newer versions of VLT. <mike | |||||
| 4597.2 | VLTjr 5.034 has same problem. | RLAV::WEGER | NJCD SWS, Piscataway NJ. 323-4468 | Mon Mar 18 1991 20:53 | 12 |
I've also been unable to rid VLTjr V5.034 (5.2.1991) of this same
error. I am also running V1.10 of AREXX.
I have read the docs but am still at a loss... any ideas.
BTW - Has anyone solved the annoying 'application mode' keypad
problem? It only seems to be a problem in VTX ??
Thanks,
-Bruce

| 4597.3 | This works !! from usenet news | RLAV::WEGER | NJCD SWS, Piscataway NJ. 323-4468 | Mon Mar 18 1991 22:39 | 45 |
How 'bout that! I just found the following tonight on usenet news
comp.amiga.datacomm. I worked for me
PS. Ypu must leave in the tilde (~) in front on the bell command.
Hope it helps -Bruce

When VLT complains about "srx", it means you have programmed something
(most likely the "beepfunction") to use that command.
In the old version of VLT, the srx command was implemented to mean
"synchronous RX", i.e. send this to REXX now, and wait for the reply.
This was sometimes necessary, since it wasn't possible to have more
than one command pending at any time. Since VLT does two beeps after
a transfer, the second beep would be ignored with a simple RX
command, since the first one would still be pending (no time to pick
up the reply message until the next full loop over everything).
Nowadays VLT's scripting is completely multithreaded and the simple RX
command works fine both times. At that time, the command set was rationalized
to get rid of all the strange stuff that crept in, and the SRX command
diappeared. There is still an equivalent: RX SYNC, but you shouldn't need
that very often (and it's a little dangerous in the current version: it can
block VLT completely).
What's all this mean, you ask. Well, to fix it, select Program Mode On,
and select Beep Volume. You will likely see the beep command start with
a tilde followed by something like srx "address 'PingServer' BEEP" .
Change srx to rx, hit return, select Program Mode Off, and save the
configuration. Poof, all done... 8)
Willy.

| 4597.5 | Beep on download, revisited | DECWET::DAVIS | Strength through Peace | Wed Mar 20 1991 12:17 | 8 |
Anyone figure how to get VLT to beep after receiving a download? It
beeps(ping) twice after finishing a upload. I tried to write a
"schedule" but couldn't figure out how to "hook onto something" that
will tell the schedule that the download is finished, like "EOF" or
the "DONE" that appears in the download window.
