When I get I'll surely give it a try, I'll be back early April.
I'll let you know.

| A quick look at this circuit and the other circuit shows that it looks like this
one stands a chance of working. It's handling many other signals and not just
simply doubling the clock.

| I have the old CMI 14mhz installed in my 2000. Looking at the board I
see several pals, and of course(an empty) socket for the math chip. I
assume the pals are what allows it to switch between 7, and 14 on the
fly. i should download this project to see how it handles this. It's
funny how the CMI product never made it, I seem to have no problems
with it at all. Of course I haven't tried my supergen with it yet.

| Re .3:
Noticed your reference to CMI; I have a CMI midi interface, and when I received
it (mail order) the first thing I noticed was that the company's products had
been picked up by a new company (can't recall it right now). Seems like CMI went
under.
I needed some info on the synch signal sent out by the MIDI box, and got very
little help- the new company has *noone* in-house to answer tech questions, but
referred me to the home phone of a tech they occasionally use for such stuff.
Of course, the MIDI box may be an exception, but I do hope that you manage to
get support if/when you need it on the accelerator card.
Cheers,
Bob

| The CMI processor accelerator specifically had a problem with DMA
operations. True DMA hard disk controllers don't work with the CMI
accelerator installed.

I can assume then that the GVP card is not a true DMA controller.
It still does a great job though. I plan to pick up the math chip
this week, and that will have to do me until I can afford an 030.
I wasen't really planning on this but I saw it on the shelf, and took a
gamble. So far I have tried many software packages, and my jx-100. I
haven't tried the supergen 2000s yet. maybe this weekend!
I tend to get confused with what controllers do what, and how. I do
know the GVP (FastRomm update) performs well for me, and the CMI
PA seems to help screen refresh a little. I looked at the plans for the
unit on the net,and felt I'd rather risk the $125.00 than attempt to
install the hack. I am fairly competent, but when it comes to the amiga
I don't like to mess around. I try to avoid opening it up as much as
possible. i will install the math coprocessor, and then start looking
for more memory for the 2058 card. If I run into problems i'll trash
the CMI PA, and wait for an 030. My thought was the cost of the CMI
device was less than the time I'd spend modifying AMY, and much easier
to undo when the time comes. I bought this well knowing that I'd be
doing major changes in the future. OS 2.0, extended chip set, dual boot
card etc.

Bob,
I bought the PA knowing that CMI had bellied up. I did not know
anybody had picked up any of their stuff. It is interesting to note
the performance gain I have so far, without the math chip. I don't
really know if It is there or a state of mind.(wishfull thinking).
I do know I don't see enougn of a gain to support installing the
hardware project if this is all it buys you. I believe the "Fast Rom"
mode accounts for most of the performance gain I do see. Does the
Hardware Project offer this ? I had planned on going it alone in
the respect of support, but already have gained insight on this little
adventure from the net. I had planned on replying to the original CMI
note but felt the discussion here was not to off base. I do believe
many of the programs on the PA disk are PD, but they are probably
already available here. if not I could upload the PD ones for those
doing the Hardware hack.
