I presently own a Amiga 2000 with no extras. I would like to add a hard drive and extra memory but can't afford both right now. If I were to purchase the ICD2080 SCSI card with 2 meg. of memory but not the hard drive, would this work in my machine? Would the machine see this as just a memory expansion, or would it see it as an incomplete expansion? Thanks Bill

4580.1 | Will work fine... | FSDEV2::JBERNARD | John Bernard 297-2563 MR01-1/L87 | Mon Mar 11 1991 11:54 | 13 |
The 2080 without a drive (and 2 meg of memory) would look like 2 controllers to your system; a 2 meg board, and a scsi host controller with no drives attached. So, to answer your question, yes, it will work fine without the drive until you add one at a later date. As a side note, I have 2 ICD controllers (w/o memory) in my system, along with a GVP series II. The ICD is a very fast controller, the configuration software for the drive is a pleasure to use, and best of all, the price is quite affordable! Enjoy, John | |||||

Thanks John, I ordered the card with memory after reading your note. Thankyou for your quick reply and subjective review of the ICD controllers. Bill |
