4560.0. "PPage output to Matrix Printer (Landscape)?" by FSDEV2::JBERNARD (John Bernard 292-2591 YWO/E3) Mon Mar 04 1991 13:15

Has anyone any idea how to print a landscape orientated page
from ProPage on an HP-Paintjet (LJ250)?

    I created a landscape page on ProPage (11 x 8.5), I have tried
setting, through Preferences (AmigaDOS not PPage) the print
orientation by toggling HORIZONTAL and VERTICAL.

No matter what I do, the page comes out in portrait mode. I want to
do some color overheads, and had not run into this before, since I
usually output to a postscript printer.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

Well, how about this? If you are using version 2.0, you can now rotate boxes
on a page. So use a portrait page, and rotate all the boxes. Print as
portrait and everything will be arranged as if it's landscape.

Does this make sense? The only drawback is that rotated type might not print
well (I haven't experimented with this yet) and it is much slower to display
on screen.

I just did a quick test to see if this would work on my LA75. It does. The
only problem is that the base line of the characters isn't perfect. It shifts
a tiny bit from character to character.

Give it a try.

I use this technique (90 deg rotated boxes) with ProPage on an LJ250
and the quality is excellent. I haven't noticed the baseline shift.

4560.4Thanks - the workaround works!FSDEV2::JBERNARDJohn Bernard 297-2563 MR01-1/L87Wed Mar 06 1991 09:227
Thanks for the help! I was assuming landscape and portrait output
was supported to a dot matrix printer from ProPage. I overlooked
    other solutions...

    Thanks,
