I'll take a stab at this:
o I just received a copy of AmigaVision from Mem Loc. It is V1.0.
o CanDo just made available a new release which I believe is V1.5.

4538.2 | Amigavision more recent | SALEM::LEIMBERGER | | Fri Feb 22 1991 10:25 | 6 |
| Amigavision has been updated recently. I know it ends in a "G".
1.3g maybe. I have it at home but I just can't remember.
My scanner software hasen't been updated since I purchased it quit
awhile back. ASDG is very good at updates so i guess it is 1.0 or
1.1 no more than that.

4538.4 | Hmm - I just bought an old version!!! | MEO78B::MANDERSON | Amiga + '030 == MicroCRAY | Fri Feb 22 1991 18:27 | 12 |
| Thanks.
I just bought a JX100 scanner that comes with SCANlab100 - and it was
version 1.2 dated May 1990 Sounds like that may be current.
I just received CANDO from Creative Computers and the version on that
was V1.02 (disk images dated Feb 90). I will be calling them and
Invatronincs in a day or so to complain bitterly.

4538.5 | mailorder-> buyer beware | SALEM::LEIMBERGER | | Mon Feb 25 1991 06:07 | 13 |
| Don't blame Inovotronics. It is up to the dealer, seller to maintain
his inventory. When you send in the card you will get an update notice.
I know for a fact that if you have a lesser version than 1.5 there is a
charge for the update. Maybe in your case you will get by this. I
consider this part of the price when dealing with mail order. It is the
same as getting a shirt that don't fit, the wrong color dress, or what
ever else you see happening with items ordered through the mail. Of
course the mail order house will often exchange the item, in the case
of software they sent what you ordered(I doubt they stated version #)
so you may have to go the normal update path. Mail order has it's
advantages but I consider the first rule of thumb with mail order to
be "Buyer Beware".

4538.6 | mailorder->ASK for specific version | DECWET::DAVIS | Strength through Peace | Mon Feb 25 1991 12:18 | 7 |
| Also, on the subject of mail-order, before you order KNOW the latest
version of the software you want and ASK for that version. I usually
have them place the version # on the invoice. Saves you a bit of
hassle in the long run. FWIW

4538.7 | CATS is shipping AmigaVision 1.7 | MADRE::MWM | | Mon Feb 25 1991 14:25 | 0 |
4538.8 | all is ok. | MEO78B::MANDERSON | Amiga + '030 == MicroCRAY | Mon Feb 25 1991 18:30 | 16 |
| I have talked to Invatronics - a great conversatin - and they are happy
to upgrade me to V1.5 at no charge because I have only just purchased
the product.
Now I just hope V1.5 is easier to understand than V1.021 :-}
Yes comments about version numbers and buyerbeware etc are all taken.
One of the reasons that I purchase direct fom the states is quite simply
that the versions are generally far more upto date than here in
Australia. Outside a conference like this it is not always possible
to know what the current versions are anyway, the USA magazines we get
are usually at least 3 months old.

4538.9 | Difference between AV v1.53g & v1.7???? | DECWET::DAVIS | Strength through Peace | Tue Feb 26 1991 14:32 | 5 |
| Anyone know of the bugfixes/enhancements to AmigaVision from v1.53g to
v1.7?

4538.10 | 1.7 was probably a mistake.. | MADRE::MWM | | Tue Feb 26 1991 15:21 | 11 |
| Well, I called CATS (the people I bought my 3000 through) to get an upgrade
from 1.3 and was told they were going to ship me 1.7. When the disk got
here, it was 1.53G.
Either they told me about a version that's not yet ready to ship, or the
person I talked to was mistaken. I'd expect that CATS would be shipping
the latest version if anybody is.
Sorry for the misinformation.
