4525.0. "DEC Multisync Monitors" by HYSTER::DEARBORN (Trouvez Mieux) Tue Feb 19 1991 15:46

I think this deserves a note of it's own, as opposed to placing this in another
monitor note...

Can someone tell me (us) what DEC Multisync monitors are available, that will
work with Flickerfixer or an enhanced 2000 or 3000?

Some day I will have to buy one. Perhaps a DEC one could be obtained at
the employee purchase price less than a Zenith or a NEC 3d.?

        DEC doesn't have multi-sync monitors.

The Sony's that we buy are special versions of the standard
monitors and they are not multi-sync.

Besides, our mlp prices are almost twice the retail price. Don't
fool yourself into believing DEC gives you a bargin on decent
        monitors.

Thanks.

Are you sure the monitors that come with our PC's (The ones from Tandy) aren't
multisync?

The latest purchase specs for DEC's new 20 MHz 80386 DECstation list
its color VGA monitor as multisync 1024x768 (part no. PC4XV-B2). As
for whether it's a good buy - you're asking the wrong person!

The employee purchase price for the PC4XV-B2 is $501. US. The customer price is
$825.00 US.

I found one in my department. It has a built in swivel base. The display is
very crisp. There are adjustments for V+H size on the front.

I have no idea how this compares with 3rd party units pricewise.

For that price range one can get a Mitsubishi Diamondscan, for
about $50 more a NEC is available. Also in the same price range
        is Princeton.

In the lower area - $450, is Acer, Phillips (Magnavox) and
        others.

Sony can be found for around $600 as can the new Zenith version
of the 1492 (not a multisync, but once you've seen it, you won't
        want anything else).
