A couple of basic bridgeboard questions. I saw one somewhere for fairly cheap $$$'s and thought it might make a nice addition to my system. It is just an A2088 XT w/ 5.25 drive and I was wondering what sort of display abilities that gives me? Can I buy a VGA card and have VGA and compatabiity? Will most things run? Assuming I don't buy a VGA card do I get emulated EGA or CGA or do I just have NIL display capabilities? Any bridgeboard experts out there? Thanks, George

I am using the configuration you describe. The Janus software provides MDA and CGA emulation. I haven't done this but the manual says you can add a video card to the IBM side of the A2000 to get EGA or VGA. John Sauter | |||||

As for compatibility, I can run the most popular software like Word Perfect 5.x, Dbase3 (haven'g got Dbase 4), 123 etc.. Some games works but I would say that I couldn't get them all to run. Having an Amiga what is the point of runing IBM games anyway? I haven't got a VGA, but I someone that did and it worked OK, just make sure you use a 8 bit card. As for CGA (normal mode) if the software is showing some movement, the "moving" object will be sort of flashing. ie. the movement is not as smooth as it should. I must add also that the keyboard have some weirdness on few softwares. But this is not a major backdraw. Vince. |
