 Commodore - Profit more than tripled in second quarter

   Commodore, exceeding analysts' estimates, said its profit more than tripled
 in its second quarter ended Dec. 31. While Wall Street has been warming up to
 the battered computer company for some time, yesterday's results solidified
 the trend. In a statement, Commodore chairman Irving Gould cited strength in
 several product lines and said the company is "well-positioned in our effort
 to maintain our growth momentum." The second-quarter results mainly reflect
 Commodore's success in Europe, which the firm said contributed 85% of sales
 for the period.
