4420.0. "Why 590Setup disk fixed DVideo GURUs?" by UFHIS::JMASLEN (The wheels fallen off your day yet?!) Wed Jan 09 1991 06:53

A question and a method in case others get caught!

    I have a new 500, 501, 590 with 2MB, I reinstalled a German Workbench
onto my 590 HD using the 590 Setup Disk. After that I copied my Delux
Video III on to the HD. Within two steps of use (trying to open a SCENE
/effect on the VIDEO track) caused 00000003. xxxxxxxx GURU.

Phoning Electronic Arts support solved the problem but I don't
understand WHY/HOW as the final 'Save changes to Drive' said
    "unchanged" after saving the update!

    Method:
    1 Backup HD
    2 Boot 590 Setup floppydisk
    3 Open HDTOOLBOX
    4 Click on PARTITION DRIVE
    5 Click on ADVANCED OPTIONS
6 Click on UPDATE FILE SYSTEM
    7 Hit Return key
    8 Click on OK
    9 Click on OK
10 (you are now back at the first screen) Click on SAVE CHANGES TO
    DRIVE
    11EXIT

So just what did I do and why dies it work now? I want to understand
    what I did!!

cheers and thanks for patient answers!

This sounds like the imfamous "location zero is assumed to contain zero"
bug. Check earlier notes about A590 and the Workbench 1.3.2 update for
    details...
