4415.0. "Hot deal on Brown-Wagh's Service Industry Accounting" by TLE::TLET8::ASHFORTH () Tue Jan 08 1991 12:07
I'd been looking at a package of Brown-Wagh's called Service Industry Accounting
for a while; the original reviews were complimentary, but the price tag ($300
list) was high for me. Lately I've seen it listed at $84.95 by Creative
Computers, but I've been burned by "immediate obsolescence" enough that I was
skeptical, so I called Brown-Wagh for the product's status.
Seems all is well. The package has "stabilized" as far as new features are
concerned, at least until sales dollars exceed development costs already
expended; that's reasonable. However, bugfixes and technical support are
definitely there.
Here's the kicker: Brown-Wagh apparently lowered the price for the month of
December only, and are raising it (at least so they say) for any subsequent
purchases. Since the timeframes apply to purchases BY THE DISTRIBUTOR, I was
able to make the purchase at the lowered price.
For anyone who runs a service-oriented business (I'm a contractor), this package
deserves consideration. I'm intending to replace a fairly "clunky-to-operate"
combination of Superbase and Superplan which I currently use for tracking my
accounts. I won't post my experiences with the program unless someone indicates
interest, since this is a rather specialized program.
Cheers,
Bob
