    It is VT200.ARC *but* it is not corrupt.  You can verify this with
    the test switch ("arc t"). Assuming you are doing the "arc v" on the
    VAX end, the file format needs to be stream_LF whereas it's probably
    variable length or fixed length.  CVTARC (among others) allows
    conversion from one format to another. Ie:

        Usage: CVTARC {uv} <from file> <to file>      
        Where:   u   = convert to STREAM_LF           
                 v   = convert to fixed length records

    This has been discussed at great length throughout this conference...

    At any of the popular locations (TAPE, WJG, etc.), and the obscure
    ones like CRISTA""::AMIGA: which has it in both formats; VT200.ARC
    (variable length) and VT200.SLF (stream_LF). They both work, I promise!

    SIXEL is a feature of VT240 or VT340 terminals.
    VT220, VT320, and VT420 terminals don't do SIXEL.
    
    Keep in mind that for SIXEL a VT240 offers 800x250x4colors
    and a VT340 has 800x500x16colors screen resolutions.
    
    I have yet to see SIXEL or ReGIS implemented in any of the Amiga terminal
    emulators.  And even on an IBM PC, it wasn't until 800x600 displays
    appeared that reasonable SIXEL or ReGIS could be done.  Scrolling
    around inside a larger virtual screen is the pits.
    
    A flickering 640x400 display as a maximum resolution for most Amigas
    may be one of the reasons why this hasn't been done yet.

    Smokey *can* display SIXEL files, however it's limited to a "4-tone
    grayscale", if you will. From the docs:

	If you want to display sixel files, then it is best to have a depth
of 3.  If you use less then 3, the sixels will only be in one color.  The
default colors for sixels are black, 1/3 white, 2/3 white, and full white.
If you aren't going to be using sixels, then make sure your depth is 2 or 1
to improve emulator performance.

     Here at work I have a 25mhz 325c running "Reflection 4+" (over an
    ether(sp?) net).
     This emulates 240,241,330,340 as well as Tektronix (4014?).
     It's response on the net is even faster than the 340's I've used,
     and makes using things like decslide and decgraph enjoyable.
     I only wish my Ami could emulate the 340.

I too have worked with, and impressed with, the Reflection emulator. A customer
of a CMP I once worked for used a zillion or so of these on a factory floor,
intermingled with VT340s, and *never* reported a bug to us which didn't appear
on both devices identically. If you have PC capability on your Amiga, you won't
go wrong with this program (if you can afford it!).

Regarding SIXEL, a small nit- it is not a *feature* of 240, 340, etcetera, but
is a well-documented *format;*  the *feature* of the terminals listed is
*support* for display of SIXEL format.

Yeah, I'm sure the author of .2 (and most of us) know this, but for those who
don't, the difference can be significant- as a format which "stands alone," it
can be supported by things like VT200, the LN03 and LPS40 printers, and anything
else you want to tweak to understand it.

    Interesting.  My personal experience with the Reflection emulators has 
    been just the opposite.  I guess it depends on what software and
    picture files it encounters.

    While 4 color sixel was useful awhile back, most picture files I've
    encountered have been 16 colors or more.  I'll try out Smokey's sixel
    support - thanks.  I didn't know it could do that.
