4359.0. "Internal Modem for B2000" by VIVIAN::D_VISTUER () Fri Dec 14 1990 18:51

A friend of mine has expressed interest in an internal modem card for
his B2000. He has looked everywhere (or so he claims) but can't find
one anywhere. Therefore, does anyone know of an internal modem card for
the B2000 available in the UK.

    Thanks in advance.

Both internal modems have some compatibility problems with the
serial.device, see other notes and the UseNet discussions.
I currently have an AE DL 2000 at home for an extented test and it's
current software (I don't that it's hardware is inherently broken :-)
has some major quirks, especially in conjunction with UUCP.

Could you elaborate on this CB?!?

I also have an AE DL2000 with MNP-5.

Re: -.1

The dl2000.device behaves flakey when patched by getty. If you receive an
incoming call, chances are that getty will hog the CPU and hang...
This only seldomly occurs if you initiate a call to another system.
On the other hand the firmware has other quirks, like the inability to save
certain register (like S9, S10 or the MNP mode) so you have to initialise the
damn thing every time (with the commands appended to the getty commandline).
Also the DL2000 often interprets the local ring tone as an MNP signal, but not
so on long-distance calls. Other MNP modems don't show this behavior.

Hope you all had a very merry Xmas,

What version of code is in your modem?

I'll post the stuff on my modem (using ATIn command)

My modem thinks it's revision 248 and has the Sierra V 1.60 5/8/90 MNP stuff.

Mine is also rev 248 but returns this:

So I have a Seirra date a couple weeks later than yours. I wonder what that
means?

Maybe Steve Peters could put his info in?
