Does anyone know why I can not do a copy from one harddisk to another if I use the quiet switch. If I do a copy from one harddisk to the other without using quiet everthing works fine. I'm using a Commodore 2091 controller and everything is properly terminated and works great otherwise.

The symptom is that the machine will lockup after a minute or two.

Could be that the output to the screen slows the copy just enough to allow the SCSI bus to do what it has to do - it could be a controller problem as well - Are you using 2090, 2090a or 2091 (or 590). Just guessing... John

The 2091 controller card does have known problems (i.e. locks up after a few minutes) when two or more devices are connected to the card. The problem has been traced to the WD controller chip (supposedly). See your dealer (who should know all about this problem). This problem will also show up with the quiet mode set on or off, but is more pronounced usually with the quiet mode OFF. TOPGUN |
