4315.0. "Using an LA75 for graphics printout? !@#$!*!!??" by WEDOIT::DAUB () Tue Nov 27 1990 16:58

    Is anyone out there using an LA75 with the latest Printer.device
    and WB 1.3 ?

    If so, can you tell me what version of Printer.device and which
    driver works best with it.

    After much trial and error. I managed to get Pro-Write, and Print
    II working but only with WB 1.2 and a very old Printer.device and
    CBM_MPS1000 driver.

    Why does the graphic dump seem to work ok, But my software packages
    fail with the same driver. It seems like a lot of imcompatibility
    exists between printer driver revs.

    Can anyone comment?

4315.1Is the LA75 in OTHER mode?LODGE::LENDavid M. LenTue Nov 27 1990 17:583
    I have been using the CBM_MPS1000 driver from WB 1.3 without any
    problems. The LA75 should be set to OTHER mode (i.e. IBM compatibility)
    for this to work properly.

    Ditto with -.1. I am using CBM_MPS1000 driver with the LA75 in IBM
    emulation mode. Graphics and text prints great.

4315.3Deluxe Print II and an LA75WEDOIT::DAUBWed Nov 28 1990 16:4826
    I am using Printer.device from 10-AUG-87, the size of the driver
    is 18768. The CBM_MPS1000 date is the same with a size of 4836.

    The problem I had was getting Deluxe Print II to size the printout
    correctly. The print window would not let me print with a width set
    to anything wider than 4", even though 8" would be put into the
    width when I used the MAX WIDTH pushbutton. This problem was the
    same when using any printer.device with a later date, under WB 1.3;
    & trying to use a printer.device eariler than Oct-88 with WB 1.3
    caused a system crash. When I went to WB 1.2 and used Printer.device
    dated eariler than 10-AUG-87, I got extra blank lines in the printout.

    But WB 1.2 with Printer.device size 18768 and CBM_MPS1000 size 4836
    seemed to be the only combination that would work correctly for
    Deluxe Print II on the La75.

    Only,.. the CBM_MPS1000 driver used with graphic dump, seemed to
    cause the first couple of lines to be messed up. The EpsonX[...1250]
    driver worked fine for graphic dump, but not for ProWrite or anything
    else. Anyway... the latest Printer.device seems to be a problem
    when used on an La75.... at least with the Deluxe Print II package.

    Any body else out there using Deluxe Print II on an La75?

    I have not tried using DPrintII but Pen Pal and all my other printing
    utilities work great on my LA75. Here are the sizes of my copies
    of printer.device and CBM_MPS1000.  They are 26964 and 5896,
    respectively. I use PrintPlus, a shareware graphics printing utility
    from one of the later Fish disks when I need to print pictures. Its
    output is excellent!  FWIW.

4315.5Print DensityNITMOI::WITHERSAnother Hallmark Moment. -Al BundyThu Nov 29 1990 11:347
I had a similar problem with Deluxe Print II only printing the size of
rougly a postage stamp on my Citizen GSZ-140/Color. Eventually, EA support
let me know that the software doesn't like higher density printers. I had
to go to the graphics section of the printer preferences and set my print
density to either 1 or 2. I'd try this if I we're you.

     Thanks for the inputs. I think my print density it set to 3. I'll
    try some changes over the weekend if I have time and post anything
    note worthy in this note.
