4308.0. "Chip Problems?" by HKFINN::MACDONALD (VAXELN - Realtime Software Pubs) Mon Nov 26 1990 10:00
Perhaps someone out in netland can help me diagnose a series of problems
I am having with certain applications on my Amiga 2000?
o A64 V1.01n will not boot on my system. V1.00n worked okay. I
eventually get a Guru #$00000008 and a plain blue screen (no
A64 READY. prompt. The author can't figure it out because noone
else has reported any problem running it. We have tried it on
my machine stripped down and on a factory Workbench V1.3 to no avail.
The author believes it is failing at a point where there are some
"graphics interrupts" in the software.
o MuchMore V2.7 scrolls very jittery. Moving the mouse in a circular
motion on the screen smooths out the scroll. V2.5 of the program
works just fine.
o DigiView V4.0 smears quite a bit. This generally happens after
something has been digitized and I pull down a menu. Usually,
releasing the menu leaves a shadow of a menu selection on the screen.
In some instances a rectangle of garbage remains on the screen. To
rid the screen of this I have to redisplay the image.
My system has the Fat Agnus. It is a rev 4.3 board. My question is,
could all of these problems be somehow related to a faulty chip? And, if
so, which chip? Is it possible for a chip to only partially fail
resulting in some of these problems? Is there a diagnostic program
around that tests the various custom chips on the mother board?
Any help would be graciously appreciated!
