4304.0. "Gold Disk deal in AMIGAWORLD" by FSCORE::KAYE (where's my Kama Sutra pop-up book for zero-g) Fri Nov 23 1990 13:10

I called AMPEX (pg 138 Dec AMIGAWORLD) to get the 4 Gold Disk titles
for $100. They were out of Pro Draw, but the remaining 3 were only
US$80 so i ordered them & got them 1 week later. The funny thing is
there is a sticker on Pro Page (they removed the others) that reads:

    SOFTWARE
    $5 & $10

    Sugg. List $99
    Our Price $10

AMPEX was selling it for US$39.95, did they buy this stuff at a fire
sale?? Everything was in the original shrink-wrap with warranty cards
etc. According to Gold Disk they will upgrade any Pro Page purchased
after 1-Aug-1990 to V2.0 for FREE. Sending the cards away today.

    That sticker says all!!

Ampex is one of the stores here in Atlanta. Software 5 & 10 is
another. Software 5 & 10 is a store that specializes in buying
software from companies that have gone belly-up. Then they resell it
at outrageously low prices. When Ampex heard about the Pro Page
software being sold for that amount, they went in and bought up EVERY
copy of the software for $10.00 a piece. Then they put a ad in Amiga
World, which from your message you saw.

The thing is, Ampex didn't check the other location of 5 & 10, which
had several copies of Pro Page for sale as well. Myself, and quite a
few fellow Amigans got Pro Page for $10.00!

    Not a bad deal eh?
