4274.1Check your filenameDECWET::DAVISwhatever it was, it ain't no moreWed Nov 14 1990 12:0710
IF THE FILENAME IN YOUR 'GET' IS NOT ENTERED EXACTLY(case sensitive) AS
SHOWN IN THE DIRECTORY LISTING YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE THE FILE. You WILL
receive the bitftp REPLY but the file with not be mailed.

When you 'GET' large files the server breaks them up into smaller
hunks. You will probably get several smaller messages containing a
UUENCODED portion of the larger file. Sometimes they come quick,
sometime slow.

4274.2Bet the files are on their wayKALI::PLOUFFAhhh... cider!Wed Nov 14 1990 12:3910
The log indicates that the BITFTP service received the file from the
ABCFD20 archive. BITFTP does indeed break files over about 40K bytes
into several UUENCODEd sections, which it is probably mailing to you
even as I enter this reply. You must reassemble the messages in the
correct order, strip out mail headers and trailers, then decode the
resulting file.

Just be patient. As .1 says, sometimes the files come very slowly.

I just did a "get" of TextPlus from ux1, yesterday. It split
TextPlus.zoo into five pieces, which I received as separate mail
messages. You have to cut everything above the ASCII body and
below it. There is a <CR> at the beginning and at the end of
the ASCII body (for want of a better term for it). The mail messages
that I got said "part 1 of 5", etc.

It definitely takes a variable amount of time, can be a few minutes,
can be a day.
