4268.0. "Amiga 2000 Printer Problem" by HYEND::JWARNER () Tue Nov 13 1990 20:58

I have an Amiga 2000 which I'm using with a LJ250 printer.  I have the LJ250
printer connected to the Amiga via the serial port, have the LJ250 set for
HP-PCL mode, and the HP_paintjet driver is being used on the Amiga.

Everything was working well until a recent hardware failure in the Amiga
started to cause problems and so far I have been unable to locate the
cause of the problem. I'm confident the failure is in the Amiga as I've
switched LJ250 printers and the problem continues.

The problem I'm having is when I use GraphicDump and print a bitmap of
the screen I have vertical lines which are spaced at intervals of about
1/10 of an inch on the output. The lines are very narrow and might only be
about one pixel wide.

I have tried replacing the CIA chips and have taken the system in to an
Amiga dealer and so far no luck on sorting out what the problem might be.

If anyone has any ideas on what might be causing the problem or can recommend
a good Amiga repair shop which has some technicians which have some reasonable
training on the Amiga please let me know. Also, does anyone know if Commodore
has any type of technical support which is available over the telephone?

Thanks in advance ... jim
