| I'll see if I can find my docs tonight. If I can I'll post the jumper
info for you. Also their was a disk with a memory test for the A2058
that came with later boards. I got no disk with mine,and I purchased it
new.

4262.3 | no disk,docs soon | SALEM::LEIMBERGER | | Tue Nov 13 1990 06:19 | 16 |
| I haven't located my docs as of today,but I will get the data from my
local dealer if I don't find them. I am running 4meg now,and will be
needeing the docs to move up to 8meg. re the disk I did not get one
when I purchased my board,so I took my system down to the dealers and
ran the test there. I also tested the ram at home with the utility that
comes with the GVP FASSTRom update. I am not sure what this covers
though. When I went from 2meg on the 2058 to 4meg I got a guru
everytime I tried to duplicate a drawer with workbench. GVP sent a set
of pals out that corrected the problem.(this was why I took the system
to the dealers). At first it appeared to be a memory problem with the
A2058 because when I set the jumpers to 2 meg it was ok 4meg guru.I
have had no problems since GVP updated me,and none with the new GVP
software.

4262.5 | here are jumper settings | SALEM::LEIMBERGER | | Wed Nov 14 1990 05:50 | 22 |
| Here are the jumper settings to set memory on the A2058 board
J1 J2 Memory Size
Closed Closed 2 Megabytes
Closed Open 4 Megabytes
Open Open 8 Megabytes
Open Closed Auto-Congig Disabled*
If you need to decrease the amount of memory to remove chips,you can
simply reset the settings. Even though populated the, system will
only see what ram is designated by the jumper setting.
(found this helped to resolve my problem with GVP controller)
* When the A2058's auto-config hardware is disabled, the board can be
automatically configured independent of the Amiga OS. THIS IS A BOARD
DIAGNOSTIC MODE ONLY.
I have no info on the above statement. I lost my docs,and obtained
the jumper settings at my dealers. It may have to do with the disk I
did not get when I purchased my A2058. I have also use the memory check
from AMI DOCTOR sp???? .

4262.6 | OH! no 6meg available | SALEM::LEIMBERGER | | Wed Nov 14 1990 05:52 | 4 |
| You may have noticed there is no setting for 6 meg. The a2058 has to
have the last 4meg put in in one chunk. This is why I am holding at
4meg.

4262.7 | Docs/Disk Available | OTOA01::STEEVES | | Wed Nov 14 1990 08:11 | 23 |
| John,
If you are interested in just adding 2MB to your 2058 module for a
total of 4MB on board, you will need to add 16 chips to the following
locations: U16, U18, U20, U22, U24, U26, U28, U30 (on the lefthand side
of the board) and U55-U62 (on the righthand side of the board). For a
total of 8MB on board simply fill all of your empty chip sockets.
I have all the documentation and the Commodore diagnostic disk. I would
be happy to copy the docs and the disk for your 2058, if you would send
a blank floppy to me at mailstop HXM or if you prefer via mail at the
following address:
Digital Equipment of Canada
1133-101 St George Blvd.
Moncton, N.B.

| John,
Your Welcome. Also thaks Murry for posting the ic locations. I lost
my cpoy of the docs. Of course if I want to add more all I need to do
is flush out the rest of the board,and move the jumper.
