4252.0. "Commodore (UK) announce A1500 !!" by POLIS::THOMSONA (C'mon, git aff! /The Kelty Clippie) Fri Nov 09 1990 04:41

Well, surprise, surprise !!

I got the December issue of Amiga Format yesterday and there was a C< advert
detailing an Amiga 1500 !! (Yes a genuine Commodore advert - not a 3rd party)

It looks exactly like an A2000, and a small article on it says that it has
all the same expansion slots. It comes with 2 floppy drives, a 1084 monitor,
1Mb of ram (all chip) and a few S/W titles thrown in (Dpaint III...)

My suspicion is that its simply a rebadged 2000 - but why ???

Price in the UK is 999 + vat (@ 15%) - but that's Commodores official price
I'd be surprised if it isn't available mail order for 700 - 800 soon
(including vat).

Does anyone have more details ???????

There is some more about it on the front page of 'PC WEEK', Nov 6
issue. It doesn't really add anything to what you have written.

There's also another article about the Amiga in this paper (page21)
    - compairing it with Windows 3 (I havn't read it yet).

Alan - I leave PC WEEK on my desk if you want to have a look at the
article (I'm on vacation next week).

As a point of comparison for the colonials, any idea how much that is
in $$$$ ? Or perhaps you could list the cost of an A500 and an A2000
with roughly the same equipment/memory/etc and let us figure it out as
best we can. Though it may never translate across the waters.
