4235.0. "The AmigaVision Upload Note" by KALI::PLOUFF (Ahhh... cider!) Wed Oct 31 1990 15:54

    This note is intended to announce uploads of AmigaVision programs,
    "flows" or "courses." (What _do_ you call these things, anyway?)
    Examples of what ordinary Amiga users do with AmigaVision are welcome
    here. Tutorials, demos, presentations -- the more the better!

    To start the ball rolling, I have uploaded to TAPE::USER2:[UPLOAD]
    two files...

    	CDAUGvision_Aug90.LZH
    	CDAUG.README

    This is the first AV-based issue of a disk magazine from the Capital
    District Amiga Users Group of Albany, N.Y. The editor claims it will
    run on a 1 meg machine. It's a typical newsletter collection of
    reviews and commentary plus a good art gallery section. It barely
    qualifies as multimedia, and the editor obviously is an AV novice.
    But IMO it's a good example of what one person can whip together in a
    short time.

    [Paul Macdonald, how long until the first multimedia NARC opus?:-) ]

dumb question. Do these demos need AmigaVision to run?

4235.2AmigaVision is needed....LEDDEV::GERBERFor more info, call: 800/555-1212Thu Nov 01 1990 09:4516
Yes, AmigaVision is needed to run AmigaVision applications...

Commodore has been including AmigaVision (or coupons for AmigaVision) with all
A2000, A2500, A3000 machines since it was introduced (give or take a few days.)
The A500P comes with AmigaVision, the A500C does not.
A500P = A500 +A501 w/AmigaVision sold at Computer Strores..
A500C = A500 + 3 Pieces of Software sold at Sears, other dept stores and
        places like Software, Etc.

AmigaVision is $150 list, prices vary...
The Memory Location has it for $135 and has the latest version
Mail order has it for under a $100...
Make sure that you get one with the 2.0 Compatible sticker if you buy it, as
this has minor bug fixes and some minor new features...

Is there any upgrade policy for those of us who got earlier versions?
I've found my early version AmigaVision to be free of bugs so far,
but I haven't tried running it under 2.0 either.
4235.4Two more CDAUGVision disksKALI::PLOUFFAhhh... cider!Wed Jan 09 1991 13:038
    Two more issues of CDAUG Vision are now on TAPE::USER2:[UPLOAD]

    CDAUGVISION_SEP90.ZIP and
    CDAUGVISION_OCT90.ZIP

    More to come when available over the Internet.

    Yet two more issues of CDAUG Vision have been uploaded to
    TAPE::AMIGA:[UPLOAD]...

    	CDAUGVISION_NOV90.LZH
    	CDAUGVISION_DEC90.LZH

    IMO, the November issue is rather "thin." The December issue contains
    an innovation in product reviews -- example screens or example output.
    Also, I have uploaded

    BIRDNET.README
    BIRDNET1.LZH
    BIRDNET2.LZH

    Birdnet is a two-disk AmigaVision "encyclopedia" of birds, including
    pictures, descriptions, habitat maps and recordings of birdsong. It's
    limited to just eight species, however.

    Standalone AV applications seem to take a long time and eat lots of
    disk space. Maybe _that's_ why the heavy emphasis on videodisc.

AMIGAVISION RUNTIME PLAYER

The CATS department is announcing the availability of an AmigaVision
runtime player program. This player is basically AmigaVision without
its icon-based editor. You can include the runtime player with your
own AV applications so that your users don't need to own AmigaVision
in order to run your software.

Other advantages of the player program are:
   1) It supports all new features of the updated version of AmigaVision
      (version 1.70Z).
         - New Expression Editor Functions
         - Improved SMUS Player
         - Chaining Function
         - More touchscreen, joystick and video drivers
   2) It will save over 350K of disk space (compared to using AmigaVision).
   3) You save an additional 50K of memory during runtime.

The licensing terms consist of a yearly registration fee ($500 the first
year, $100 each year after) and a per-copy fee (on a sliding scale, based
on the retail price of your product).

If you are interested in licensing this program from Commodore, send a
letter to:           Cathy Godfrey
