4216.0. "New A64 Emulator" by DICKNS::MACDONALD (VAXELN - Realtime Software Pubs) Tue Oct 23 1990 11:05

    Well, Cliff Dugan has done it again. He has just released a version of
    his A64 Commodore 64 emulator for 68010/68020/68030/68040 systems. He
    claims that the emulator when run on an A2620 system will give a 200%
    performance increase over a stock 64! Wow, I'll be able to use
    Speedscript on my Amiga (just kidding).

    I downloaded the archive last night, but there appears to be a glitch
    in the code preventing it from running. I've contacted Cliff about
    this, and will upload it here when it is fixed.

    The emulator is nice ... unlike Transformer or the Atari emulators,
    this one multitasks with AmigaDOS. You can actually run Amiga programs
    and C64 programs at the same time. Cliff also provides utilities for
    converting files from C64 to Amiga and Amiga to C64. He also has a
    utility for copying the C64 ROM code over to the Amiga, although the
    ROM clone he provides seems pretty much perfect.

    Well, apparently this does work on some A2620's, just not mine. I dunno
    why, but Cliff is investigating. I'll upload it to tape::. It is also
    available on GEnie, PLINK, and CIS.
4216.2Problem Identified PerhapsDICKNS::MACDONALDVAXELN - Realtime Software PubsWed Oct 31 1990 11:176
    We may have the answer to my problem. Cliff believes it is the fault of
    my internal A2300 genlock. He had another report similar to mine. The
    only common link was that both of the complaining systems have A2300
    genlocks. Does anyone out there have a theory as to why this should be.
    It might also explain why the new MuchMore V2.7 smooth scroll is so
    jittery. Don't tell me that the A2300 is not compatible with V2.0 WB?!
4216.3Ok, I got it, what did I get?DWOMV2::CAMPBELLDelaware AmiganSun Dec 02 1990 01:0512

    Anyone else send the "license fee" and order the hadware interface?

    I got a little box to plug into the parallel port for C64 periph's
    and a 3.5 disk that says "DF0:Bad" when I put it in?????

    Could it be that I need to start shopping for a 1571?

    Thankx,
    Dennis

4216.4C-1541 works okMUSKIE::BRUNNERSun Dec 02 1990 12:265
    	I got the adapter a week or so ago and have not had the time to
    play with it much but my old C1541 works fine. Everything will load but
    as I expected there is some software that does not work.
    	 I don't remember getting a disk with the adapter. I was hoping to
    get the '020 version of A64 with the package.

    You can download the 020 version .. it is V1.01n. It supports all 680xx
    processors. I also received the little interface box. Unfortunately, I
    cannot get V1.01n working on my system. I suspect I have a faulty chip
    somewhere on my mother board.
