4206.0. "Amiga vs. NASA, "L.A. the Movie" w/ IFF & SCUPLT4D
" by VICE::JANZEN (Tom MLO21-4/E10 223-5140) Tue Oct 16 1990 14:20
Kevin Hussey at the Visualization and Earth Science Applications Group with
Image Processing Applications and Development SEction at the JPL in Pasadena,
CA has made that L.A. The Movie, where LANDSAT photographs and elevation data
were combined on VAX Computer and Sorbourne computers to make an animation
of a flight over LA.
How do we do this on the Amiga?
Digitize a LANDSAT photograph into IFF. Use Sculpt 4D to paint this on
a surface. Make the surface by entering elevation data from
government maps (I have one of Franklin Mass, but forgot whom it's from;
hiking sports shops sometimes have them). Make an animation from camera
movements alone.
How about it?
Tom
