4184.1October meeting minutesELWOOD::PETERSMon Oct 15 1990 22:1815

The October meeting is over and we had a few new DEC members.
One message I got was, the direction got them there but they were
very bad. I'll try to post more detailed directions.

The BBS is running. It is a Amiga 500 with very little storage.
The club is working on a plan to add a hard disk with more storage.

The next meeting is Video editing and production and the December
meeting will show an Amiga 3000 and a demo of Workbench 2.0 . This
may also include a demostration of Profesional Page.

Can anyone give a review. I really wanted to go but couldn't.
I've got Bars & Pipes but would like to hear about what others
are doing with it or what other people think about it.

		Video Editing using the Amiga
		  by Steve Peters

The Amiga is the machine of choise in video production. The
presentation for the November meeting will show an Amiga based system
that was designed for video editing. The system includes an Amiga with
a supergen 2000 genlock, multiple serial ports, a Future video EC1000
edit controller, 2 panasonic AG1980 VCRs, and a Cannon A1 camcorder.
The main function of video editing is to select scenes or
segments and combine them to create a new video. This system allows
the user to control the VCRs and Camcorder from the Amiga, save edit points
and sequences, modify the edit list, and control the production of the
result.
The software to control the system is still under development. In
the future the software will be extented to control the genlock,
play Amiga animation and synchornize MIDI sounds to create the video. The
demonstration will show how these extended features will be added and
used.

The January meeting of the Worcester County Amiga User Group
( WCAUG ) will be on Jan 9th at 7:30 . This month the meeting will
show some PD software and nominate/elect new officers. Since there
are no new nominations and all the current officers are running I
expect the election to be very very short.

The Febuary 13th meeting will have a video Toaster demo.
The March 13th meeting will have a CDROM demo.
The April 10th meeting is our Games meeting.

Here is a new map to the Worcester Countery Amiga Users Group.
Note that the convention is that North is up on maps, not down.
Note that Plantation St. is not at a right angle to Route 9.
Note that the U Mass Medical, here shown in French, is West of Lake Ave,
not East.

	"French" ? eh ? or just "non-american" ?

Anyway, looking out of the window here right now I'm
wondering how practical it will be to venture out tonight. Is there a
"hot line" for WCAUG meeting cancellations ?

4184.11Meeting still on ..ELWOOD::PETERSWed Jan 09 1991 13:008

WCAUG doesn't have a hot line but you could call the BBS and leave
a note for the SYSOP. The SYSOP has the meetings at his house. I will
check on the meeting later today and leave a note ( maybe 4:00 or so ).

What kind of inputs are you feeding into the toaster? Are you
going to have any Time Base Corrector at the meeting? I just bought a

Yes, I'm at DECUS. There is a meeting today ( Wed 8th ). The demo
is MIDI music, ( I think using Bars and Pipes ). There was going
to be a midi Saxaphone and other keyboards.

Next month I will be demonstrating Animator Journeyman from
    Hash Enterprizes.

Also the club cookout / pool party in comming soon.

I saw the demo. Only about 6 people were there. But it was good.
Bars and Pipes beat **** out of the sequencer I bought, which
crashed twice while I showed it. Bars and PIpes never crashed.
Bars and Pipes musical display is kind of typical, spacial
proporational notation, and the tape recorder buttons are common,
but the expandable set of tools that can be inserted into any
lines of music, and cause lines to influence one another,
are very modern, giving B &P a video-game look, and intuitive
use (drag a tool icon onto a gray piece of pipe, so the pipe
is replaced by the tool icon). It's too much for me to buy just
	now though. Darn.
I wouldn't call it object-oriented, though, which I had guessed it
	might be.

The next Club meeting is Wednessday June 12 ( see above notes for
    place and time ).

I will be giveing a demo of Animation Journeyman by Hash. We will
also talk about our Cookout/swim party, changes in the club BBS, and
a new AMIGA store in Worchester.

    	Next month is DCTV.

The Worcester Users Group is meeting tonight ( 9/11 ). The
presentations are on AmigaDOS 2.0, DiskMaster II, and a video
tape from HASH enterprises. The tape is a animation made on the
AMIGA using Animation Journeyman. The tape was shown at SIG Graph.

October's meeting will have Phil Collins ( owner of the local
CBM authorized repair shop ). He will discuss getting your Amiga
fixed, What breaks, what it costs, Warranty, upgrades, tech tips.
